Prevent HTML code from being modified

Is there a way to "turn off" or prevent CKEditor from modifying my HTML code? It seems to remove empty tags when opening in WYSIWYG - for example, I am manually entering <br /> tags in my HTML source code, but upon re-entering the editor in WYSIWYG, they are stripped and replaced with nbsp entities.

I have seen reference to editing config.js files, but I was wondering what the right way to do it using this provider might be, since it provides a GUI to many of the settings, but none of them available seems to apply. I'm guessing that there is some simple way that I'm overlooking that would just stop any manipulation of HTML source code.

Any solution for this yet?

I don't understand why anyone would want an editor that just removes text whenever it wants.

unfortunately this is how the editor works. When enterMode is p tag all br tas are been replaced with nbsp entities. You could change the enterMode to br or add the br tag to the protectedSource
[( /<br \/>/g )]
