SPAN tags not inserting properly

description

I'm not sure whats going on. I was told about this a while back but I wasn't paying attention. I have 2 different sites (multiple DNN installs - not on the same install) that use Active Forums. I have the same exact setup on about 5 websites.

On 2 particular sites, I have CKEditor configured to be the editor in use. I also have font colors set. If I go in and select text and then set a color, nothing happens. I look at the source and I see <span> some text here </span> even though I specified colors.

I have no clue what I'm doing wrong. One site is on DNN 7.2.2 and the other is on 7.3.4 both on CKEditor 2.1.0 and its been happening for several versions now. I've hoped that each upgrade would kick it into action or fix but it has not.

Any ideas?

i cannot reproduce it at the moment, did you make any modifications to the editor config?

If yes use the export functions in the Settings Window and attach the Exported settings xml file here so i can try to reproduce the issue.

So I can't export from these sites either. I have tried to export to the standard directory and another directory. Nothing works. I can see one that I must have done about a year ago but no matter what I do it won't export.

The only customizations that I did intentionally were the colors and font sizes available. The interface is a bit wonky so I can't guarantee that while scrolling I didn't accidentally get over an item that has a drop down and accidentally change a value but I don't see anything that stands out.

Is there a way to "factory default" everything? I saw where you mentioned to someone else to delete a few config files to essentially do an uninstall. Do you think I should start there too maybe?

Sorry I wasn't criticizing, I meant that the interface is a bit wonky on these sites. It falls off the page usable area, scrolls funny, takes time to load. It very well could be my site. I just realized that didn't sound too good and wanted to clarify.

Did you get any error messages? browser console or dnn event log?

Well that would be one option, to Click the Remove Portal Settings button in order to delete the saved settings.

That could solve the problem, but for me its important to know which setting causes the trouble.

When I click export the page moves but nothing at all happens. I would definitely like to figure this out rather than resetting it.

Is there a way to manually backup the settings?

So I was wrong. There are logs:

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: An error occurred while communicating with the remote host. The error code is 0x80070001. ---> System.Web.HttpException: An error occurred while communicating with the remote host. The error code is 0x80070001. ---> System.NotSupportedException: Specified method is not supported.

Ingo have you had a chance to look at any of this? I'm having numerous problems with this. I can't export, I can't change font color.

For example if I have something and I try to change the color of one word, instead of getting the colors I get something like

<span>TEST</span>. Instead of <span font color>TEST</span>

I'm seeing this same behavior on multiple sites but not all of them. I have no idea where to go from here. I posted the event log above back when I first asked. It wasn't until today that I was working again on the site and having issues. I recently upgraded to RC2
